A DECISION has been delayed on controversial plans to build a hot food takeaway in Wrexham Road in Whitchurch.
District councillors met this morning, Wednesday, to discuss the planning application to transform the former Spar shop.
But 11th hour changes to the plans meant a decision was not be taken.
Residents turned out in force to protest when councillors met in Whitchurch to view the proposed site.
They were shocked to be told that a new application has been submitted to include a second chimney on the building.
In light of the new application, councillors voted 9-3 in favour of deferring a decision until the next development control meeting in a month’s time.
The first chimney is aimed at dispersing odours from the cooking range.
It’s hoped the new chimney would help tackle any smell from the inside of the shop itself.
Campaigners against the proposals have vowed to use the extra time to step their fight up a gear.
