A MAN charged with wounding with intent amid allegations he slashed another man across the face with a knife has been remanded in custody.

John Frederick Lancaster, 44, of the Plas Madoc Estate in Acrefair, will appear at a preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court next month.

He is charged with wounding George Lockley with intent to do him grievous bodily harm during an incident on Saturday, when it is said he received two deep cuts to the lower lip and cheek.

Lancaster is also charged with the illegal possession of an air pistol.

An application for bail by defence counsel Mark McLoskey was rejected and Lancaster was remanded in custody pending the Crown Court hearing.
