THE annual Sunrise Stroll will take place on Sunday, June 6, with the aim of raising more than £30,000 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

But organisers have been disappointed by the number of people signing up so far and have appealed for families to join either the 7 or 12 mile walk around the beautiful Cheshire countryside.

Now they are hoping the promise of good June weather and the health benefits of the event will get the crowds flocking.

The hospice needs the public’s support to continue to provide dedicated care to local people.

One person already signed up to take part includes hospice trustee Marion Needham from Chester. She has been taking part in the stroll since 2007 to support a cause that is close to her heart.

Marion said: “I love Chester and the countryside around it, there’s nothing like getting out on a wonderful day and having a great walk, especially early in the morning.”

Registration for either walk is £10 per person. To register in advance, go to sunrisestroll.eventbrite.co.uk or just come along on the day.

Participants will receive a T-shirt, medal and refreshments upon their return to Chester Racecourse.
