FOUR Yale College beauty therapy students have showcased their nail art skills in a national competition.

Jolanta Kozlowska, Laura Wiltshire, Hannah Ferguson and Gemma Harden were the only students from Wales to make it through to the UK Beauty Therapy Worldskills final.

Jolonta came home with a silver medal for her work which represented the seven continents, the UK and her home country of Poland with intricate nail designs, a modern twist on the story of the Greek Titan Atlas.

Tutor Meryl Koscinska said: “We knew we had to do something unusual for the UK finals and Jolanta’s use of male model and fellow student Jenna, dressed in gold as Atlas amused and wowed the judges.”

Gemma, who hopes to open her own salon eventually, claimed bronze for her elaborate nail enhancements.

Lecturer Paula Hancock- Wood said: “We are extremely proud of all students who competed, as it is a fantastic achievement to gain a place and to represent the college in the UK finals.”
