YEAR 9 students at Woodford Lodge High School in Winsford were given a chilling account of what it is like to have been personally affected by the Holocaust.

Joanna Millan, whose parents were both killed in Nazi concentration camps during the Second World War, visited the school on Thursday to talk to pupils and answer questions about her experiences.

Ruth Cawley and Sophia Oakes, Year 12 students from Winsford Sixth Form, also gave a presentation based on their visit to Auschwitz in October as part of their A-Level history studies.

Teacher Alan Jacks said: “We hope this event will help the Year 9 pupils to empathise and appreciate the importance of this event in 20th Century history.”
