BEAUTY students at Mid-Cheshire College were given the chance to shine during a Hollywood theme inter-college make-up competition.
The group were given the ‘avant-garde’ theme to work with as part of their course assessment.
“The students designed the make-up, hair, nails and body art as well as providing props, accessories and a model,” said tutor Jane Williams.
A panel of professional judges including Jayne Greenwood, make-up artist for Hollyoaks and Casualty, spent the day with the students assessing their creativity and professionalism.
Another judge, Mandy Rigby, of Mac Cosmetics, said: “The students are very gifted. We would have liked to have given more awards, as it was very hard to select the winners.”
First prize was awarded to 19-year-old Annie Barrow, from Rudheath, for her Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ‘Oompa-Loompa’.
Runner-up was 18-year-old Kate Owen for her creation of Jack Sparrow, from Pirates of the Caribbean.
