HIGH school pupils are busily packing shoeboxes with donations to help disadvantaged children across the world.

Students, parents and staff from Neston High School and Year 7 pupils of University Church of England Academy are supporting Operation Christmas Child.

The annual campaign, run by Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse, encourages volunteers to pack shoeboxes with gifts and goodies for children in eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia.

Neston High School has sent more than 500 boxes over the last three years – and is seeking donations so it can achieve record numbers this year.

Sixth-formers, acting as charity leaders, have set each tutor group the challenge of creating one shoebox for a boy and girl in each age group – two-four, five-nine and 10-14.

Any donations of empty shoeboxes, wrapping paper, gifts, toys, educational supplies, sports equipment or sweets will be gratefully received.

The closing date for the appeal is November 29, when boxes will be collected. For further information, visit www.nestonhigh.cheshire.schu.uk or call deputy headteacher Rachel Hudson on 0151 336 3902.
