ESSAR Oil sought approval for the storage of ‘extremely flammable’ substances at the Stanlow refinery.
The company told planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council it was seeking consent to hold 480 tonnes of the hazardous materials. No objections were raised by the Health and Safety Executive.
The issue was whether the storage of the materials was acceptable and if it posed risks to the surrounding areas, planners believed.
They did not feel this would be the case and recommended that consent could be granted. This was agreed by the council.
