ACTORS of Hollyoaks joined pupils and parents at The Grange School, Hartford, yesterday to celebrate the lives of two teenagers who tragically died in a road accident last summer.

Abigail Irlam and Bede Etherington, both 17, were the inspiration for a fashion show, attended by young talent from across the county, to raise money for children’s charity When you wish upon a Star.

The Manchester-based charity, which grants wishes for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses was chosen by Abigail’s family.

Among those due to take part were Ashley Slanina Davies, who plays Amy Barnes, and heart-throb Sam Darbyshire, who plays Fletch. Others strutting their stuff included Bede’s sister Amelia, who has just landed a modelling contract.

It was the tragic duo’s shared interest in fashion that prompted the theme for the evening, with the show dedicating a ‘tweed’ section to the images favoured by Bede and a house music inspired section favoured by Abigail.

The evening culminated in a Diamond Finale with the celebrities dressed in spectacular outfits supplied by Hayley J, of Shrewsbury.

Chief organiser, Abigail’s cousin Emma Holland, said: “To have their favourite celebrities wanting to take part is a terrific testament to Abi and Bede. They would have been thrilled.”
