POLICE are appealing for information after an attempted robbery at a post office.

At just before 9.30am on Saturday police were called to McColl's Post Office in Milton Road, Ellesmere Port, after a man threatened and intimidated staff.

The robber, who has been described as in his late 20s, entered the post office and demanded that a female member of staff hand over money.

When his demands were refused, the offender smashed the glass screen at the counter and fled the scene.

The shop worker, a 39-year- old local woman, has been described as shaken but not unharmed by the incident.

Police have described the offender as a white male in his late 20s, about 5ft 4in to 5ft 8in tall and of a stocky build. He was dressed in a blue ‘McKenzie' hoodie, grey T-shirt and dark-coloured bottoms.
