SHOP workers were terrified when robbers wielding planks of wood raided a Little Sutton newsagents.

Cheshire police are appealing for anyone who may have seen two men enter McColl’s on Station Road at about 8.23pm last Tuesday, January 29.

The thieves, armed with several large planks of wood, threatened shop assistants and demanded money from the till before making off with cigarettes and a three-figure sum of cash in a vehicle that appeared to be heading toward the A41.

The first man is said to have been wearing a high-visibility jacket with the hood up, grey tracksuit bottoms, white trainers and high-visibility gloves.

The other was wearing a light-blue jacket with the hood up and a high-visibility vest with black tracksuit bottoms, black shoes and black gloves.

The vehicle that the men made their escape in is described as being a dark-coloured four-door hatchback.

Detective Constable  Mark Hughes of Chester CID said he was appealing to anyone who may have any information about the incident, to contact police.

“No-one was injured in the incident but staff were left shaken by their ordeal,” he said.

“We appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious to please get in touch.”
