STAFF at a Ledsham hotel are getting competitive as they prepare to break a world record… for eating baked beans.
About 80 employees at the Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel are gearing up for the record attempt on Wednesday, July 25, when they will aim to break the world record of eating 136 baked beans individually with a cocktail stick in two minutes.
The workers have been generating sponsorship for the event to raise funds for Claire House.
Nicola Underhill, Macdonald Craxton Wood Hotel’s general manager, said: “Staff members are keen to do their best and raise as much money as possible.
“There is a competitive atmosphere in the hotel at the moment; we think 136 beans is achievable and we hope to have a new record-holder.
“The event will be a lot of fun and is in aid of a great cause.”
Local businesses and sports clubs are invited to join in the fun. The challenge runs from 10am until 8pm in the hotel’s Craxton Suite and anyone is welcome to have a go. The person who breaks the record on the day will win an iPad and whoever collects the most money for Claire House will be rewarded with Macdonald Hotel vouchers.
