STAFF at Specsavers in Ellesmere Port held a day-long fundraising bike ride to raise funds for Diabetes UK ... all from the store’s window.

Members of the eight-strong team took it in turns to keep the exercise bike, donated for the day by Ellesmere Port’s EPIC leisure centre, going all day.

The store’s event co-ordinator Laura Burns said: “As eye-care specialists we have an acute awareness of the dangers posed to the sight by diabetes-related illness.

“The cycle ride was a show of our support for the research and help provided by Diabetes UK and to increase awareness of the benefit of exercise in reducing the risk of diabetes.”

The team at the store on Marina Walk collected sponsorship for the bike ride, paid for the privilege of wearing their pyjamas to work and held a raffle with prizes including a pair of specs, contact lens trial and specs accessories.
