A CHARITY that finds owners for Ellesmere Port’s homeless moggies is calling on cat lovers to joins its fun run team.

South Wirral Cats Protection has entered a squad into Chester Academy’s family fun run at Chester Racecourse on Sunday, April 29. And the charity is on the lookout for willing supporters to join the superhero-themed team.

Branch member Dorothy Morgan-Leaing said: “You don’t have to have the power to fly or leap tall buildings – just by taking part and raising money for Cats Protection you’re a superhero to us.

“It’s not only great fun in a wonderful setting, but your efforts will enable us to improve the lives of many more unwanted cats and kittens in South Wirral.

“The branch is run by volunteers and, with no paid staff, relies solely on donations from the public and income from fundraising activities.”

There will be three separate races on the day – a 10K, 5K and 2.5K fun run. The charity is looking for people to run, jog or walk the 2.5K distance.

Funds raised will go toward the care of fostered cats while they wait for permanent homes.

If you would like to join the team – and receive a Cats Protection goody bag – email southwirralcpl@yahoo.co.uk or call 0151 355 9813 and a sponsorship and entry form will be sent to you for a registration fee of £6.
