MARK SMYTH stole the show for Bangor City, scoring two goals and setting up another, as Nev Powell’s team produced by far their best show of the season so far in beating Newi Cefn Druids.

Les Davies joined in the act as well towards the end, hitting one goal and creating the last for a colleague.

City almost found the Newi net just 18 seconds after the kick-off, when Davies powered a close range header that keeper Chris Mullock brilliantly fended away.

It was no surprise when the score became 1-0 just past the half hour, Smyth – unlike several team-mates earlier – producing an edge of box shot that sped low into the corner of the net.

Smyth struck again from close range on 47 minutes, after a Mike Walsh set up on the left, and then he became the provider for Sion Edwards’s goal on 58.

Although Druids attempted a revival midway in the second half, with Geraint Lewis replying on 61 minutes, City finished in top gear with a Davies goal on 83 and the fifth from Walsh on 91.
