A NEW pop singing course for youngsters in Mid Cheshire starts up later this month at Rudheath Youth Club on Gadbrook Road.

And organisers DAN (Development of the Arts in Northwich) want budding stars to start warming up their vocal chords for professional singing coach Heather Baker.

Anyone who thinks they’ve got the X-Factor and is aged 12- 18 can take part in the course, which costs £15 for seven weekly hour-and-a-half sessions.

“The course will cover pop harmonies, performance skills, basic vocal technique and confidence building,” said DAN coordinator Nick Hughes.

“Singers will work together on several popular songs by a variety of artists. And at the end of the seven week course we will perform a show for friends and families.”

The course begins on Tuesday, January 27 and the sessions are every Tuesday (except February 17) from 6.30- 8pm until March 17.

“Whether you’re a serial performer or an absolute beginner, there’s something for everyone,” said Nick.

The course tutor will be Heather Baker, one of only 10 teachers in the UK currently certified to teach Speech Level Singing at Level Two and above.

In 2006 Heather was the singing coach to one of the entrants in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She has also been working with gospel group BlushUK, who were nominated for Best Gospel Group in the 2007 MOBO awards.

Places are limited but can be booked by phoning Nick Hughes in the DAN Office in Northwich Library on 01606 41597.
