WREXHAM Mayor Aled Roberts led a two-minute silence in Queen's Square on Tuesday to pay tribute to the servicemen and women who fought for their country.

This year, Remembrance Day commemorated all those who have fought in conflicts since the Great War, including the Second World War, the Falklands, the Gulf War and, most recently, the war in Iraq.

At 10.58am, the bugler played Last Post before a two-minute silence was observed, and a wartime air raid siren was sounded.

Hundreds of businesses and residents also paid their respects by observing the silence at work or in their homes.
