THE Port Arcades has a very unusual request for its female shoppers – please give us your bras.

The appeal, which was launched on Monday, is part of a month-long charity bra collection campaign to raise funds for the Linda McCartney Centre in Liverpool.

The shopping centre has set a target of 500 unwanted bras with a donation being made on the overall weight.

The Arcades has also promised to match the total pound for pound.

The campaign was launched by borough mayor Keith Butcher and his wife Joan, who became the first to donate a bra.

The bright pink bra bank is between Max Spielman and Martin Dawes.

All clean, wearable bras that are collected will be exported to Third World countries where the price of a new bra can be more than a week’s food for a whole family.
