COUNCIL bosses are working with the owners and architects of Winsford town centre, BTW Shiells, to regenerate the shopping centre.

The plans are aimed at attracting more retailers and shoppers to Winsford, and will include a new contemporary glass shelter over the central square, new toilet facilities, additional landscaping and modernisation of shop fronts.

Vale Royal Borough Council’s Winsford regeneration officer, Jo Comerie, said: “This regeneration of the town centre is going to be a real boost for residents and businesses.

“Some of the country’s biggest retailers are already showing interest in coming to the town, and other existing retailers are looking into expanding their current facilities.”

A public display of some of the proposals for the centre are available to view in Unit 12, Dingle Walk opposite New Look.

Comment cards will be available for the public to air their views on the proposals. And representatives from the design team will also be available to answer any questions on Saturday, July 5 from 2-4pm in the town centre.

Town mayor Cllr Des Worthington added: “Anything which is going to improve the shopping centre and encourage more people to shop in Winsford, I’m all for.

“I look forward to the project coming to fruition along the lines of what the planners are hoping for.”
