A HAVE-A-GO hero shop worker sent an armed raider packing after hitting him over the head with a broom.
The 53-year-old who works at The Spar, Long Lane, Upton, refused to hand over any money and hit the masked robber, who was armed with a crow bar, several times with a brush.
The would-be robber then fled empty-handed.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery which took place about 10.45pm on Wednesday July 1.
The offender is described as white, in his early 20s, about 5ft 8in tall, with short blond hair. He was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered by a mask.
