A FARM shop is encouraging its customers to vote for it in a national radio food award to recognise its dedication to Cheshire food producers.

The Hollies Farm Shop, at Little Budworth, is asking people to nominate the shop for Best Local Food Retailer in the BBC Radio 4 Food Awards.

Director Edward Cowap said: “We pride ourselves in selling the finest produce and using, where possible, Cheshire-based producers. We’re encouraging customers to vote for us and then its fingers crossed to see what the judges think.”

Bogus charity warning

COUNCIL chiefs are urging members of the public to be aware of ‘charity’ collectors operating in the area.

The council is asking people to be aware that not all approaches for donations are from charities, and unless it is a registered charity there are no guarantees where or what the donations will be used for.

Lead councillor for Community Safeguards, John Turnbull, said: “There are companies operating in this area that appear, at first glance, to be collecting for charity, but are in fact companies making a profit out of the collection.

“Commonly these companies will drop leaflets through the door asking for old clothes, however, if you have old clothes and want to be sure of where they are going, it is advisable to take them to a charity shop.”
