THE PARENTS of murdered schoolgirl Shafilea Ahmed have been cleared of any involvement in her killing.

Her father Ifitkar and mother Farzana were arrested in connection with the disappearance of the 17-year-old, who went missing last September.

Her body was found dumped in a river in the Lake District in February and a massive murder hunt was launched.

Police believed her death have been an honour killing due to her not wanting to take part in an arranged marriage.

The finger of suspicion pointed at her parents, from Great Sankey, Warrington, immediately after her disappearance but they always protested their innocence. They even interrupted a police press conference held to launch the murder inquiry.

Mr and Mrs Ahmed were given police bail after being quizzed by detectives leading the murder hunt.

A Cheshire police spokeswoman: "They have been released without charged."
