A SEX attacker who groped and kissed a 13-year-old girl on playground swings has been jailed.

John Michael Jones, 21, who resides at Bunbury House bail hostel in Stanney Grange, followed two girls to the Whitby Park swings on February 15.

At Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston Magistrates Court he admitted sexually touching both 13-year-old girls without consent.

Prosecutor Carolyn Viviani said: “At 3.30pm, both girls were in the café at Asda in Ellesmere Port along with a child they were babysitting. Both stated the defendant was staring at them.”

When the girls left to take the child home, Jones followed them asking if they had seen his grandmother.

He continued to pursue them and waited while they dropped the child off before heading towards Whitby Park.

Jones sexually assaulted one of the girls as she sat on a swing.

When arrested two days later, Jones denied the allegations.

Peter Barnett, defending, said: “It could be said Mr Jones is fairly immature for his age. He’s not as clued up as many.”

Chair of the bench Pat Bogunovic jailed Jones for 13 weeks for both assaults, to be served concurrently and placed him on the sex offenders register for seven years.
