REMEMBRANCE services will be held in Leighton Hospital on Saturday to celebrate the lives of children and babies.

Two services will be held in the chapel at the Crewe hospital, at 4pm and 6pm.

Parents, friends and relatives are invited to go along to either of the services to remember their young loved ones who have passed away before, during or after birth.

Each year 2,800 babies are born in the South and Mid Cheshire area. Sadly there are about 10 stillbirths annually, as well as a number of miscarriages. The remembrance services help families give thanks for these babies, as well as children who have died after birth.

Lynn Pessol, ward manager on the neonatal unit, said: “We hold this 45 minutes service each year for those families who have suffered the loss of a baby or child at any time.

“As well as providing an opportunity for parents, relatives and friends to meet together, the remembrance service helps families cope with their great sense of personal loss. We provide tea and coffee after the service and give parents and family members the chance to talk about their personal experience.”

If you would like to attend either of the services, call Lynn Pessol on 01270 612077.
