CONSIDERATION for vulnerable residents on Bonfire Night is highlighted in a new fireworks code launched in Wrexham.

The aim of the code, set up by the county borough council, is to encourage responsible fireworks usage and consideration for other residents, particularly the elderly and vulnerable.

The code outlines tips for responsible firework usage, such as purchasing fireworks with a visual rather than noisy effect, finishing displays before 11pm and purchasing fireworks that comply with British Standards, which are suitable for the venue in which they are to be discharged.

A copy of the code will be available throughout the county borough in supermarkets, post offices, estate offices and libraries.

General advice on firework selling, safety and storage is available from Wrexham County Borough Council, Public Protection Department, Trading Standards Division, Ruthin Road, Wrexham. 01978 296060.
