A CAMPAIGN is to be launched in Cheshire to boost a care service which improves the quality of life for older people and people with disabilities.

The Family Based Care service links each person with a volunteer career who spends time on a regular basis sharing everyday activities.

But more carers are needed to meet the growing demands of the service across the county.

Now a campaign is being launched to encourage more people to consider whether they could become a Family Based Carer.

The campaign will be launched at St Mary's Centre in Chester on March 5.

Liberal Democrat Social Services spokesman Ken Hemsley said: "Many people have the potential to be a Family Based Carer, but rule themselves out, wrongly believing they can't do the job or need experience.

"Many carers with us now didn't realise just how much they had to offer until they gave it a try.

"And the benefits of a caring role are enormous, people find the work extremely rewarding because it is so highly valued by the people they care for and their families."
