THE search is on for the region’s food heroes.
The Local Food Heroes project is looking to support local farmers and identify ways in which it can strengthen local supply chains to include more Wrexham foodstuffs.
The aim is to work more closely with restaurants, schools, hotels and other local food-related businesses to ensure Wrexham food is as widely available as possible.
Heather Miles, Northern Marches Cymru’s new local food officer, said: “Wrexham is a county rich in local produce it can really be proud of.
“I’m passionate about our local food and I want to hear from more of our rural growers and producers to identify how the new local food project may be able to help them.
“I’m also keen to get in contact with more of our local suppliers, shops, schools, restaurants and hotels to identify ways in which we can all support our local producers more and benefit from the fantastic food on offer in the area.”
The project has received funding from the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007- 2013, which is financed by the National Assembly for Wales and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
