ROWERS of the Grange School, Hartford, experienced one of sport’s most famous venues and met an Olympic hero recently.

Some 60 rowers and coxes competed in various crews at the National Junior Scullers Head of the River held on the Thames at Henley.

Acting as a marshall was four-times Olympic gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent, who posed for pictures with some of the Grange pupils.

On the river, three Grange crews had top 10 finishes. Some are now looking forward to the Inter-Regional Championships at Nottingham in April, having qualified to represent the North West at the recent trials on the River Weaver.
