TWO schools are to merge over the summer to improve education provision for pupils.

Gwersyllt schools Ysgol Bryn Golau Infant and Ysgol Drindod Junior will amalgamate to become one functioning school on their present Sunny View site at Wheatsheaf Lane.

The merger has been planned for some time and has the full backing of parents and staff.

Ysgol Drindod's headteacher resigned in December and the head of Ysgol Bryn Golau has announced she is to retire, too, so it was decided now would be a good time to make the change.

The new school - which is yet to be named - will be officially established on September 1.
