A NEW £10m biodiversity scheme has just been launched by Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) which will cover Wrexham and is designed to conserve ancient woodlands, grasslands, heath lands and wetlands for future generations.

Biodiversity is the term given to the variety of life on Earth and the natural patterns it forms and this scheme will bring much-needed funding to support projects around the UK.

The scheme, named the WREN Biodiversity Action Fund (BAF) launches as the LCF celebrates five years of its own scheme in support of UK biodiversity – “Conservation of Biodiversity”.

Previous WREN funded projects in Wrexham include the repair of the Wrexham Cathedral Spire, the refurbishment of St Margaret’s church and community hall and the replacement of the children’s play equipment at Alun Waters Country Park.
