ON-loan Wrexham striker Cherno Samba is on the stand-by list for England’s under-21 squad, who take on Spain at Derby County’s Pride Park stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Plymouth Argyle player, who was 22 last month, made his Dragons debut as a second-half substitute during Tuesday’s match against Stockport County and Racecourse boss Brian Carey said he was not surprised.
“Cherno has been involved with the international set-up previously, but it is brilliant news for him,” he said. “He’s shown some really good qualities during training this week”
Chris Llewellyn, Ryan Valentine and Steve Evans are in the Wales squad for their friendly against Northern Ireland in Belfast, Mike Williams is in the under-21 squad. Keeper Mike Ingham has been called up by Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez.
