WEAVERHAM High School student Samantha Mainwaring, 15, kept it in the family when she was picked to be the next Weaverham Rose Queen.
Samantha, of Wood Lane, Weaverham, is a former Weaverham Junior Queen and follows in the footsteps of her mum Wendy who was the village’s rose queen in 1981.
The proudest moment for Samantha was receiving the rose bowl which is presented each year to the new queen elect in memory of her grandad Alan Baker.
Alan, was president of the carnival for many years.
Wendy said: “It was a very emotional moment when they presented Samantha with the rose bowl. She thought the world of her grandad.”
The big day is on July 12.
