CONCERNS have been raised about the safety of pupils travelling to a new amalgamated school in Rhos.

Ysgol Maes-y-Mynydd opens in September, but MP Martyn Jones is concerned about the increased distances children will have to travel.

He claims children travelling from the bottom of the Ponciau or the Gardden Road area would have to walk to school through many areas without a pavement.

Mr Jones said: “I, like many residents, am excited about the prospect of this new school.

“However, I do have concerns about the increased distances children will have to travel.

“They will be travelling to school on roads without pavements and that is a concern.

“I have written to Wrexham County Borough Council to ask exactly what plan they have in place to make our children safer.”
