THE Rugby Football League has announced details of next week’s Carnegie Challenge Cup draw, which features two Widnes amateur clubs.

First-round pairings will be made on Thursday, January 17 at Blackbrook ARLFC.

Halton Simms Cross and Widnes St Marie’s hope fortune favours them as they enter the ‘hat’ with 52 other teams following this weekend’s four preliminary-round ties.

First-round entrants also include Leeds Metropolitan University who have qualified through the Student Rugby League competitions and teams representing the Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy.

First-round matches are to be played on Saturday, February 2.

This year’s final is on Saturday, August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
