POLICE last night warned that rogue drugs could be on the market in North Wales.

The alert was issued as officers investigated a second apparently drug-related death in Rhyl in three days.

A third man is still recovering in hospital after an apparent overdose.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a house in River Street on Friday evening, where they found two men unconscious. Desperate attempts by paramedics to revive one of them failed.

The second man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he was being treated last night.

Police have named the dead man as Ronald Mervyn Bailey, 54. He did not live at the house, although he is believed to have stayed at North Wales addresses.

He was originally from Ellesmere Port. Three people were arrested at the scene.

Detective Inspector Martin Davies said yesterday all three had been released, one of them on police bail pending further inquiries.

Two days earlier a man was found dead in his flat in the town's Brighton Road, again apparently after a drugs overdose.

North Wales central coroner John Hughes has been informed of the latest death.

DI Davies said: "While we cannot confirm the drug is heroin and the deaths could be a coincidence we are warning the public there may be a rogue batch in the area."
