THE borough council’s popular School of Rock is back for a new term next month.

If you want to learn electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, or keyboard then the school, based at Trinity Methodist Church, Whitby, is the way forward.

New sessions will take place on Saturdays for six weeks from September 20, between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Qualified instructors will be available to help young people of all abilities.

Lessons work out at £4 per week (£24 in total). A number of instruments are available to use for complete beginners but if you have your own instrument, bring it along.

The council’s arts development officer Laura Orchard said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people who are looking to develop their musical skills. School of Rock was very popular during the summer term and we are very pleased to have it up and running for the autumn.

“It is an opportunity to have a go at playing an instrument to see if you like it before you take it up. The main thing is to have fun.”

You must be aged 11 to 16 and need to book in advance by contacting 0152 356 7652 or emailing laura.orchard@epnbc.gov.uk
