ROBBERS stormed a post office in Ellesmere Port and escaped with a large sum of money.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery at Hope Farm Post Office in Great Sutton.

At 5.20pm on Thursday, May 2 two men entered the post office and threatened members of staff before leaving with a significant amount of money.

The men got into a waiting vehicle which was driven by a third man. It is thought that they then got into another vehicle and left the area.

As part of the investigation 46-year-old Ian Stewart from Liverpool was charged and appeared at Chester, Ellesmere Port and Neston Magistrates Court on Saturday, May 4 but two other suspects remain at large.

The second man is described as white, in his 20s, of medium build and about 6ft tall. He was wearing dark clothing.

The third is described as white, in his early 20s and of average build.

In February, a man wearing a balaclava and wielding a hammer, burst into the nearby Port Wines store on Hope Farm Precinct, demanding cash before making off with the lower half of the till. Arrests were made days later.
