FUNDRAISERS at Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club got on their bikes to raise £1,184 for Nightingale House Hospice.

This was the third year of the event, bringing the club's fundraising total to £4,000 so far.

Setting off from Wrexham on a cold, drab Sunday morning in February, members cycled a 50-mile route, taking in Overton, Ellesmere, Wem, Welshampton and finishing back at Nightingale House itself.

Fibrax Wrexham Roads Club is currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Club committee member Dave Hughes said: 'We believe in supporting a local charity that does a lot of good work for local people.

'We've been inspired by Lance Armstrong's recovery from cancer and consequent setting-up of his Foundation, and felt we could do our bit for our local hospice here in Wrexham.

'With all the very worthwhile fundraising that's been going on for the Asian Tsunami Appeal, we feel it's important not to forget the local charities that depend almost completely on donations.'
