AFTER nearly two decades with Wrexham, managing director David Rhodes' contribution was dismissed in three short sentences last night.

After 10 days of wrangling between lawyers acting for the Second Division club and the long-serving Rhodes, the parting of the ways was confirmed by Racecourse chairman Mark Guterman who read a prepared statement.

It said: "After 20 years with Wrexham AFC the club announces the departure of chief executive Mr David Rhodes with immediate effect.

"The parties have reached an agreement, the terms of which remain confidential.

"Mr Rhodes wishes the team good fortune for the remainder of the season and hopes they reach the play-off finals in May."

Minutes earlier Guterman had watched Wrexham go down to a 2-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers but manager Denis Smith was happier than after last Saturday's 6-1 hammering at Peterborough.

"We possibly edged it in the first half," he said. "But to lose on a set play, which was their first goal, was disappointing."
