SOCIAL Services in Wrexham has been named the best care service in Wales for recruiting and keeping staff.
Wrexham County Borough Council received well-deserved recognition when it picked up the Care Council's Social Care Accolade at an awards ceremony in Cardiff's City Hall.
The Social Services department won in the Improving Recruitment and Retention category.
These were the first Social Care Accolades to be held in Wales and provided an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about the social care sector.
'Congratulations to Wrexham Social Services department, the winners in their category,' said Care Council chairman Mutale Nyoni.
'Their recruitment and retention strategy has been successful in improving stability and staff morale, both of which are key to having continuity of care for people who use our services and improving the quality of care.
'The approach used by Wrexham has not only led to significant savings on recruitment costs but also has achieved 90% success from their recruitment efforts.
'This has meant that there is more funding available to be spent on direct services.'
