TEENAGERS will be given the chance to have their say on life in Winsford at a Cheshire West and Chester Council meeting tonight, Thursday.
Members of the Pupils Forum will be giving a presentation as part of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting at Winsford Lifestyle Centre, at 6.30pm, when councillors will take a closer look at young people’s issues and answer questions from the public.
The agenda also includes a closer look at the provision of town and parish councils, with each council invited to send representatives to contribute to the discussion.
Additional items on the agenda include a look into the way the council conducts its consultations and a briefing note from Director of Children’s and Young Peoples Service, John Stephens, about All Through Schools, such as the 2,000-capacity educational establishment proposed for Winsford.
The role of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee is to positively challenge the decisions, policies and performance of Cheshire West and Chester Council and its partners and to make recommendations for improvements.
All meetings are open to the public and, in addition to listening and contributing to the debate, people are encouraged to suggest topics they believe would benefit from a scrutiny review.
Comments on any ongoing reviews are also welcomed in writing.
Cllr Andrew Dawson, chairman of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, said: “This committee is here to make sure the council’s decisions and policies are the best they can be.
“To do this properly we need input from the people who live here and use our services. So whether you come to the meeting yourself, or get us to challenge the councillors on your behalf, please do make contact.”
Anyone is welcome to attend, but if you have a question it is advisable to submit it in advance to ensure the necessary information is available on the night.
