PLANS to regenerate the Winsford waterfront are underway.

Vale Royal Borough Council has recruited a team of planning, transport and engineering consultants, led by Manchester-based Scott-Wilson, to look the feasibility of revamping the area between the town centre and the Weaver Navigation.

The proposed redevelopment is part of the Winning

Winsford initiative. Investigations are expected to take about eight months to complete, and will involve extensive consultation with residents, businesses and other organisations in the town.

Cllr Mark Stocks, lead councillor for environmental policy, said: “Winning Winsford is an ambitious but deliverable regeneration agenda for the town. This latest piece of work is about encouraging further investment in high quality new development and creating public spaces that we can be proud of.

“Although we have an economic downturn at the moment, we still need to continue working to encourage further investment in the town. We are hoping to work up draft proposals for public consultation in the New Year.”
