AN ANGRY resident says pupils from Cheshire Oaks High are turning the surrounding area into a “pig-sty” by dumping litter on the floor.

The man, who prefers to remain anonymous, claims schoolchildren are throwing litter in the street and outside people’s houses during their lunch break.

He has written to Cheshire Oaks to make them aware of the issue and is urging them to take action.

The school says it is keen to work with the community in order to resolve any problems but admitted it has “limited powers” once parents have given consent for their children to leave the premises at lunchtime.

The resident said: “Why should the council tax payers of Ellesmere Port have to fork out to clear up after this minority of selfish people?

“I’m not blaming the road sweepers for this, I know they come round at least twice a day but sometimes this is not enough, or the timing is wrong.

“Unfortunately this is a daily occurrence and should not be happening.”

Cheshire Oaks High headteacher Lynne Fox said: “We try to work in partnership to resolve any issues, particularly using the community police in these areas because we have limited powers once students have left the site with their parents’ permission.

“Wherever possible we do try to find an amicable solution to issues raised by local residents. I am expecting to meet with the resident to discuss his concerns.”
