THE latest stage of the redevelopment of the Lostock Social Club is now complete.

Rumours is open for business once more after an extensive renovation, and club owner Martin Peake is delighted to see his vision for the new look venue taking shape.

Since 2002, Martin has pumped a “a substantial amount” of his own cash into revamping the club, re-opening one area at a time. And he is hoping people in the area will see the fantastic facilities and come flocking.

“We’ve got the main bar, the family room, the pool room – something for everyone,” he said. “It’s a family club that makes up an important part of the community.

“People can see for themselves the money that’s being spent on the place. I want it to be something the community is proud of. But it’s a long process – it won’t happen overnight.”

Work is almost finished on an outside children’s play area, and Martin is in talks with Cheshire FM about hosting local music talent from the club, which could go out live on air.

“No other club in the area offers the same mix of facilities and activities for people of all ages,” said Martin. “We’ve got a real family atmosphere here and we cater for everyone.”
