A WREXHAM man has been further remanded in custody, pending trial over an alleged hammer attack upon a man at New Broughton.

Neil Bagnall, 22, of Gwenfro, Caia Park in Wrexham, is charged with wounding with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm following an incident in Chapel Road, New Broughton, in the early hours of Sunday, October 18.

He is also charged with an alternative GBH charge and he has denied both charges.

The prosecution claimed a hammer was used in the alleged attack.

Complainant Kevin John Phillips, 42, suffered serious head injuries including a fractured eye socket and a fractured skull.

He also had two broken bones in his hand and underwent surgery for seven hours at Walton Hospital in Liverpool.

Mr Recorder Nic Parry, conducted a pre-trial review into the case on Friday and adjourned the case for trial in March.
