THE Rehab Link Team has celebrated its 10th birthday with an event at Sutton Beeches Community Support Centre in Ellesmere Port.

Staff were joined by service users past and present, executive member for adult social care and health Councillor Brenda Dowding, and director of adult social care and health Mark Palethorpe for the celebrations.

Formed in 2000, the joint health and social care team provides a rehabilitation service to people following illness or significant loss of independence.

Mark Palethorpe said: “I would like to congratulate the team in completing 10 successful years. The Rehab Link Team provides an important service helping to prevent re-admission to hospital or long-term care.

“This enthusiastic and committed team gives help and support to assist people to regain their independence. It’s really positive to see so many past and present service users here today to join in with the celebrations and I am sure I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say, a big thank to the team.”

The team – made up of social workers, nurses, clinical psychologists, an occupational therapist and a physiotherapist – plays a vital role in helping people to get back and keep daily living skills, to enable them to live as active a life as possible.

Councillor Dowding said: “One of the most significant social care issues of today is the increase in population of older people. Services such as rehabilitation are vital in order to ensure we can cope with those changes.
