REDROW Homes’s Ty Newydd development in Wrexham, has won a LABC award for 2009, making it two honours in as many years for site manager Gareth Wynne.

Last year Gareth, 38, celebrated his 16th year in charge of building work at Redrow developments in Cheshire and North Wales, by winning the coveted ‘Quality’ award in the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative.

Now, after two successful years at Ty Newydd, he and his team have seen off competition from five other counties to win the Wrexham County Borough Council housebuilder volume award.

It was presented at the De Vere St David's Park Hotel, Ewloe.

Situated off Mold Road, Wrexham, the development, on a former industrial site, will eventually comprise a mixture of 110 homes in various contemporary styles, including town houses and detached accommodation.

Gareth, who lives in Mold with his wife Caerys and two children, said: “It is testament to our strong team that the Local Authority Building Control has monitored the quality of design and construction here over a sustained period and decided to give us this award.”
