A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Frodsham has been restored.

The sandstone rockface in London Road collapsed after heavy rain and erosion in September 2012.

A landslip brought 250 tonnes of rock and soil down onto the car park below.

Construction company EBL Group repaired the site using a 100ft crane and state-of-the-art drone.

Managing director Eddie Basnett said: “We’re proud to have restored this land so that it’s protected for the future.

“The area is a SSSI because of its sandstone rockface and we’re delighted to have brought it back to its former glory.”

The striking red sandstone is visible from the railway line passing through the town.

It has taken three years for the full restoration to come together and the land has now been handed back to Frodsham Town Council.
