OULTON Park is teaming up with the British Touring Car Championship on Sunday to set a world record attempt - for eating strawberries!
The BTCC’s title sponsor HiQ will be raising money for Breast Cancer Care by hosting a ‘strawberry tea’ event at next weekend’s race meeting at the famous Little Budworth circuit.
Thousands of strawberries will be available for spectators to purchase - for a small donation.
Breast Cancer Care has confirmed the Oulton Park fundraiser is the biggest strawberry tea event ever launched, and HiQ hopes it will set a new world record.
Alec Raven, head of community fundraising at Breast Cancer Care, said: “A strawberry tea can be whatever you want it to be - a picnic, afternoon tea, a cake sale or your work tea break with a strawberry twist. HiQ has taken the idea to a whole new level and we are so grateful with their efforts for Oulton Park.
“What’s important is that it’s a chance for people to have fun and raise money to help people affected by breast cancer. This objective will certainly be achieved at Oulton Park and we hope that everyone has a sweet tooth and joins us for a tasty day of fun.”
Four of the leading BTCC drivers - Vauxhall’s Matt Neal and Fabrizio Giovanardi, Team Dynamics Honda’s James Thompson and Racing Silverline Chevrolet’s Jason Plato - have already lent their support.
Tickets for the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park next weekend (May 30-31) cost from £23 for adults, with free entry for children aged 12 and under. For more information call 0870 950 9000 or visit www.oultonpark.co.uk.
