FOUR early spring lambs started the new year celebrations earlier than usual at Tatton Park.

Two of the farm’s Poll Dorset ewes gave birth on New Year’s Eve, and by midnight the farm had welcomed one baby ewe and three rams.

Jayne Chapman, farm coordinator, said: “We were hoping the ewes would lamb during the Christmas season.

“However, despite the best laid plans, they arrived a little later than expected and just nudged into the world on the eve of 2008.”

The new additions have already been causing quite a stir in the stableyard.

The farm is open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays 11am-4pm (last entry 3pm) and during the half term break in February.
